Artificial Grass

This oxymoron is that the word 'grass' is suppose to be authentic and real. However, the word 'artificial' before give its a fake meaning. So basically you have to terms meaning fake and real which create an oxymoron. Speaking of artificial grass, it is a great alternative solution. It looks and feels real like natural grass without having to maintain it such as watering, mowing, and trimming. There has been a great trend in residential areas switching over to artificial grass because of those reasons. Its truly a great alternative, and should be considered.

I was watching penn and tellers show called bullshit, and it seemed like having artificial grass was just as much a hassle as real grass. grass is a dumb idea imo.

“Artificial grass” is not an oxymoron at all. There is no inherent contradiction, and if it were maintained that there is such an inherent contradiction, then all combinations with “artificial” would be oxymorons. This would make the word “artificial” quite useless—which it isn’t.

Perhaps combinations where the headword is in direct contrast with the qualifier “artificial” could be considered oxymorons: “artificial reality” for instance. (This might mean something like that other oxymoron, “virtual reality”.)

I agree with Bessel Dekker, this is not an oxymoron.  Nothing really says grass has to be real, artificial turf is used all the time, for example in baseball stadiums.

This is not an oxymoron as artificial grass is not self contradictory in itself, just like “model car” is not .
