a necessary evil is a contradictory statement simply because if something is necessary it can’t be evil and, if it is evil, it can’t be necessary. Another way of saying it is; the ends justifies the means. Which according to V.I. Lenin, ” You have to break eggs in order to make an omelette! Josef Stalin interpreted this by killing 50 cossacks to implement his 5 year plan.

It’s not actually like that. If the evil is necessary it means it’s the lesser of two evils. And that there is no choice but to use on of these two evils. So the hero chooses the lesser one.

It should be an oxymoron, but in the immoral world we live in, evil is often accepted. If not an oxymoron, then we justify what is evil. If there is a lesser evil, it is still evil. Kill an innocent person quickly or slowly, both are evil.
