this is a oxymoron the def is: a technique in which two words with opposite meaning are put together for a special effect

I gave this as an example of an oxymoron in a college course and it was rejected as such. It fits the definition and definitely creates an effect. A smile is seen in the eyes not on the lips anyway, as is sadness.
