Silent Verbal
This is a pretty common term in College Football recruiting. A recruit will give his verbal commitment to join a football team but both the team and the recruit have agreed not to announce the verbal to the public. This is done so the recruit will be able to “enjoy” the process of recruiting by other schools (free trip, calls, letters) and other colleges will waste their time and resources on a player who unbeknownst to them is committed to another school.
