I like Civil War because it is and isn't an oxymoron. One definition of the word “civil” is, “Of or relating to citizens and their interrelations with one another or with the state.” In this case, “Civil War” is not an oxymoron and if you claimed it to be one you'd look like a moron yourself (pun intended). Another definition, however, is, “Sufficiently observing or befitting accepted social usages; not rude.” If that is the case, then it is an oxymoron.- Samantha

A definition to Civil is to have manners and be polite. A war is about fighting, now how can you have a Polite War? exactly
